I can sympathize

with her attempt to critique the 'celebrity worship cycle'. Art isn't always pretty, it isn't always reverent, but it isn't also necessarily sacrilegious or blasphemous. I don't necessarily like it but it's too small to see well in this reproduction. I don't know if it's good art or not. What is disgusting is the worship of celebrity itself which is what the artist is critiquing.

"Whatever people want to foist on the painting, they are foisting on to the painting," she said.
Of course. That was, I'm sure, her point.
